Halifax community heroes enjoy Number ten reception

Two 'community heroes' from Halifax will meet the Prime Minister tonight (23 October) in a special reception at 10 Downing Street.

Denise Keenan, who is the centre coordinator at St Augustine's Centre, and Rahat Kahn, senior manager at the Himmat Project, have been invited by Linda as people who do outstanding work in their local community.

It will provide them with a chance to meet the Prime Minister and mingle with other 'community heroes' from across the country.

Both Denise and Rahat carry out sterling work in their community for St Augustine's and Himmat respectively.

The St Augustine's Centre provides help for asylum seekers, refugees, EU Migrants and others in the community who require assistance.

The Himmat project is a charity and voluntary organisation in the heart of Halifax. It works with young offenders to promote social inclusion through community projects.

Linda said: "I am delighted for Denise and Rahat. They are two of many unsung heroes across Halifax who carry out fantastic work in their local community.

"They are involved in promoting social inclusion in the heart of their local area and I am delighted they will have the opportunity to go to Downing Street and meet the Prime Minister."
